【摘要】:Thesepracticesincludetypesofmaterialstobeexamined,neutronradiographicexaminationtechniques,neutronproductionandcollimationmethods,radiographicfilm,andconverterscreenselection.Withinthepresentstateoftheneutronradiologicart,thesepracticesaregenerallyapplicabletospecificmaterialcombinations,processes,andtechniques.1.1Purpose8212;Practicestobeemployedfortheradiographicexaminationofmaterialsandcomponentswiththermalneutronsareoutlinedherein.Theyareintendedasaguidefortheproductionofneutronradiographsthatpossessconsistentqualitycharacteristics,aswellasaidingtheusertoconsidertheapplicabilityofthermalneutronradiology(radiology,radiographic,andrelatedtermsaredefinedinTerminologyE1316).Statementsconcerningpreferredpracticeareprovidedwithoutadiscussionofthetechnicalbackgroundforthepreference.ThenecessarytechnicalbackgroundcanbefoundinRefs(1-16).1.2Limitations8212;Acceptancestandardshavenotbeenestablishedforanymaterialorproductionprocess(seeSection5onBasisofApplication).Adherencetothepracticeswill,however,producereproducibleresultsthatcouldserveasstandards.Neutronradiography,whetherperformedbymeansofareactor,anaccelerator,subcriticalassembly,orradioactivesource,willbeconsistentinsensitivityandresolutiononlyiftheconsistencyofalldetailsofthetechnique,suchasneutronsource,collimation,geometry,film,etc.,ismaintainedthroughthepractices.Thesepracticesarelimitedtotheuseofphotographicorradiographicfilmincombinationwithconversionscreensforimagerecording;otherimagingsystemsareavailable.Emphasisisplacedontheuseofnuclearreactorneutronsources.1.3InterpretationandAcceptanceStandards8212;Interpretationandacceptancestandardsarenotcoveredbythesepractices.Designationofaccept-rejectstandardsisrecognizedtobewithinthecognizanceofproductspecifications.1.4SafetyPractices8212;GeneralpracticesforpersonnelprotectionagainstneutronandassociatedradiationpeculiartotheneutronradiologicprocessarediscussedinSection17.Forfurtherinformationonthisimportantaspectofneutronradiology,refertocurrentdocumentsoftheNationalCommitteeonRadiationProtectionandMeasurement,theCodeofFederalRegulations,theU.S.NuclearRegulatoryCommission,theU.S.DepartmentofEnergy,theNationalInstituteofStandardsandTechnology,andtoapplicablestateandlocalcodes.1.5OtherAspectsoftheNeutronRadiographicProcess8212;Formanyimportantaspectsofneutronradiographysuchastechnique,files,viewingofradiographs,storageofradiographs,filmprocessing,andrecordkeeping,refertoGuideE94.(SeeSection2.)1.6ThevaluesstatedineitherSIorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.(Formorespecificsafetyinformationsee1.4.)
